Frequent problem when you start the Receive Service
(Mail Express Enterprise & Mail Express Enterprise Plus)
When you start the Receive Service by click the "Start Receive Service" button in Control Monitor as below:
or start this service in the service manager of windows as below:
If you find that you can not start this service, the reason is another application or service that has impropriated the port 25 (if your SMTP port setting is 25). That application must be another SMTP problem, so you should close that application before start Receive Service.
As a special case, windows 2000/xp also provide a SMTP service. This service is part of Windows 2000/xp. The SMTP service is a component of Internet Information Services (IIS) 5.0 and is shipped as part of all versions of Windows 2000/xp. So if you have installed the Internet Information Service (IIS) when you installed your windows 2000/xp system, you should stop this SMTP service before start the Receive Service of Mail Express Enterprise. To stop the SMTP service, you can do as below:
1. Click Start menu in task bar of windows 2000/xp, choose Control Panel -> Administrative Tools, then double click the Services item, you will see the service manager window.
2. Find the "Simple Mail Transfer Protocol(SMTP)" item in this service manager as below:
Right-click this item and choose the Properties item in the popup menu, you will see the properties of this service:
Change the "Start type" from Automatic to Manual or Disable, then click the Stop button. Now this service will be stopped and will not start when you start your computer next time.
3. Start the Receive Service of Mail Express Enterprise/Plus in Control Monitor or Service Manager of Windows.
